Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) – Brian Boucher stopped 28-of-29 shots and Scott Hartnell scored late in regulation, as Philadelphia edged the New York Islanders, 2-1, at Nassau Coliseum.

Mike Richards also tallied for the Flyers, who halted a three-game losing streak overall to end a five-game road swing and vanquished their Long Island foes for the 11th consecutive time.

Trent Hunter picked up the lone goal for the Islanders, who have dropped three of four. Martin Biron, who backstopped the Flyers for two-plus seasons, took the loss in his first start against his former club, but he made 26 saves in a solid effort.

Hartnell put the Flyers ahead for the first time, 2-1, with 5:27 left in regulation. Jeff Carter began the rush on the left wing and dropped a pass into the slot for Hartnell, whose shot hit a New York defenseman’s stick and rose past Biron.

New York went with an extra skater for the final 1:15, but the Philly defense had the better chances to the empty net until the buzzer.

The Isles jumped out on the power play, as John Tavares fed Hunter for a one- timer at the left circle at 8:05 of the opening period. Biron denied several Flyers chances from there, and Boucher was even better to stifle the swarming Isles.

Philly finally equalized on a power play, as Richards rifled home a Claude Giroux feed with 33.8 seconds left in the second period.

Game Notes

Biron, who began his career with Buffalo in 1995, won 65 regular-season games in 143 starts for Philly…The Flyers played without forward Danny Briere, who was suspended two games by the NHL for a hit in Monday’s game…The Isles haven’t beaten the Flyers since a 4-3 home decision on February 12, 2008.
