Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Zach Parise and Patrik Elias each scored a pair of goals, leading the New Jersey Devils to an emphatic 7-3 win over Philadelphia at the Wachovia Center.

Johnny Oduya had a goal and three assists, as the Devils won their fifth straight over the Flyers, and took over the lead in the Atlantic Division. The teams entered the night tied for second place with 57 points, one behind idle Pittsburgh.

Travis Zajac had three assists for the Devils, who were 5-of-7 on power play opportunities. Martin Brodeur made 24 saves in the win.

Mike Knuble had a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who had a four-game win streak snapped. Jeff Carter and Daniel Briere also tallied for Philadelphia. Antero Niittymaki allowed five goals on 20 shots before being lifted for Martin Biron, who allowed two scores on 16 shots.

The game was a picture of excess, as the Devils recorded a season-high in goals scored in a single game, while the Flyers recorded a season-high in goals allowed. The teams combined to take 24 penalties -- many on fights and scuffles -- for 60 minutes in the box.

New Jersey, down a goal midway through the first period, took advantage of all the infractions by scoring four consecutive goals -- all on power plays.

Jamie Langenbrunner netted a rebound opportunity at the 14:19 mark, and Dainius Zubrus lit the lamp 3:25 later. He whipped a shot from the inside edge of the left circle, and the puck found its way through the traffic, squirting by Niittymaki to put New Jersey ahead 3-2 after one period.

Elias opened up the scoring midway through the middle frame on a nice feed from Oduya, who skated the length of the ice with the puck. Oduya dished a pass from near the right circle, and an unguarded Elias one-timed it in.

Parise then scored on a rebound with 5:27 left in the stanza, putting the Devils ahead 5-2, and ending Niittymaki's night.

Carter got the Flyers within two goals with a deflection score on Randy Jones' shot from the left circle, just 7.7 seconds from the end of the second period.

But, New Jersey put any thoughts of a comeback to rest by scoring two goals in the first 1:29 of the final frame. Parise got his second goal of the night 32 seconds in, one-timing Zajac's pass past Biron. Less than a minute later, Elias took a narrow shot from the right side of the goal line that slid behind the Philadelphia netminder.

Briere opened the scoring 2:53 into the game with his 20th goal of the season, and Oduya tied it at the 6:10 mark. Both were power-play goals. Knuble then gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead about a minute and a half later.

Game Notes Zubrus, a Flyer at the beginning of his career, has scored four of his eight goals against Philadelphia this season...Elias' first goal was also his 600th career point...The Flyers' five power-play goals allowed were one away from the team record...Philadelphia was 2-for-8 on the man-advantage...Oduya had his first career four-point game.
